Even though october is already half way through, a certain subject would be very interesting to write upon: Halloween.

You would have to make every line rhyme to make it a bit more challenging and have at least 12 lines, have 4 lines per stanza.

The grand prize would be about 600 points and the runner up 300 points. The judges will be myself, Raja_phsyche and Kasai if she wishes to be part of the team. I don't know if we could post a sticky somewhere to show recognition of the winner, so I'll ask Kasai about that.

Soshi Kitai

^_^ Halloween?
Abu Dhabi already readied her post (in fact, it's saved onto my laptop), but it seems I'll be the first to post... unlike her, I'll be starting it off fresh here.


SOSHI POTM: Wonderous Winter Wonder Night-O-Mare

Costumes and face paints are ready
We'll all hit hard and we'll all hit steady
We aim for the candies of that of sheen
For this, my men, is our Happy Halloween

As our doors open and our bags so heavily gripped
We all nod in agreement and have our last liquor sipped
No child shall stand in our way
For we shall steal every tray

The strike of twelve awaken all of our minds
We shall take candies of all sorts of kinds!
Some Crunch, Smarties, NERDS, and Twix
Lollipops, Gumballs, Jawbreakers, and Pixie Stix!

We dash out into the open with screams of glory in the air
The cold strikes our skins, freezing us as if we were bare
Yet none of us care as all we can feel in such passion is heat
And to what surprise it is to us that we face an empty street!

No cars and no laughter
Not one we were after
Not a child, nor a dog
Just emptiness and fog

Suddenly lights struck our eyes paralyzed
This was an event none of us surmised
For surrounding all of us, of us thirty-five
T'was none other than our rivals, the Hive

They laughed as their back rows scattered towards the houses
Some dressed in Godzilla, Kirby, Jack Black, or even in blouses!
Their leader, The King Bee, screamed "Leave no candy for these children!"
He must have been such a fool, this ridiculous plan was very well ill-ridden

"My men!" I had screamed "Not one of these men shall gain a cavity tonight!"
"Take them down and destroy their lot, for tonight we shall have our fight!"
And sure enough my men hailed at my beckon and charged furiously
Not a shred of kindness would you see, only thoughts so visciously

And to every house did we race
Ones with pumpkins with so many a face
From door to door did we scream "Trick or Treat"
We were sure tonight we would have them beat

Children dashed out of their houses screaming with fun
All seeming happy except for a child who couldn't even run
Pandemonium hit this place, as nothing more than chaos appeared
Yet through all this panic there was never really anything to have feared

For in this competition of luscious sweets
And our quick patter of insanely fast feets
This was a joy to behold and to have seen
For my men and all this was Halloween

Night so dark and moons so bright
Clouds of darkness covering all sight
Flashlights and glowsticks consume all space in the air
Women screaming and nice children with candy to share

Lights dazzling through the house castles of yonder year
Of places with witches and goblins and all things to fear
A ghost here and a ghost tragically placed there
This was our Wonderous Winter Wonder Night-O-Mare

Abu Dhabi

This year i'll be prowlin
through the streets a'growlin
with candy wrappers flyin
this year i'll be a lion

every 'ween i'd be under a sheet
sadly walking through the street
one hand with my mom and my candy in the other
i never wanted to go with my mother

i'd see groups of kids having fun
wondering when i'd have some
knocking on a few doors
not wanting to go on anymore

they would suck the fun from the outing
there would be no use in pouting
i had no real friends to go to
so there was nothing i could do

there were breaks with friends in the hills
but even thoughs were run-of-th-mill
i wanted to have fun one year
so much so it brought a tear

last year i had my lover
with him, there was no other
cheap rags, a box, a bag
that's all we had

yet fun lasted through the night
it was filled with funny fright
this year will be the same
but i won't be quite so tame!


^_^ my holidays were never that fun... and Halloween was one of them... and New year's especially... but anyway... yeah.........

''the hallow pumpkings on the gate''

The first one said,
Oh my, it's getting late.
The second one said,
wut we don't care.

The third one said,
I see witches in the air.
The fourth one said,
Let's run, and run, and run.

The fifth one said,
Get ready for some fun
Then whoosh went the wind,
and out went the lights.

hallow pumpkins rolled out of sight
in the shallow cold night
once they rolled out the gate
all hallow pumpking's said

what kind of game we should play,
hide and sick?
then the second pumpking said,
or poke a scarecrow on a stick?

All hallow pumpking decide to join halloween
make a bright light that can be seen
by dark crows,
or even the big red eyes hiding in the trees.

Not many seem to have participated in this first eddition of POTM, but lovely poems were created for the event! Raja_psyche has pointed me to her favorite and I after reading it fully, think it the best for this occasion as well.



The one that demonstrates mostly what the spirit of Halloween is between our three fervent contestants would be......*drum rolll*
