Though a sad ending does impact you more just because you want everything to be happy. But bottom line is if at the end I can say "I understand where the creator was coming from" I think it is good.

![]() ![]() Credits: 10 | Re: Happy endings or sad endings? i do not know whether you are a male or female but one thing i know for sure that you are a glorious human being for you are searching for an answer to a question at the nascent stage of your life which is usually done by the older men like me who consider them selves to be on the thresh hold of the exit door of this world with almost all one leg placed in the grave. i am not a priest and i am not preaching but consider one suggestion that is whether you ever searched for the causal factors responsible for one to conclude that his/her life would have a sad conclusion? number of disappointments are directly proportionate to the number of desires you nurture. if you expect some thing and fail to acheive that something then well, you would be sad. say that a man who has one eye looks at a man with two eyes he would definitely be sad but if we look at a man who is totally blind we feel glad. why this then? it is comparisions that make us sad so we should resolve to compare us with the people who are more unfortunate than us then it is happiness. i request you to develop this attitude. my life had been a big misery that you would understand if you read the home page of my free website [www.shakespearerevived.com] under the title "the life that had been" you would agree with me but i dont consider my life to have been a waste and still consider my self that one day i would be ending this life on a gloriously happy note. god bless you trinity shiva |

![]() ![]() Credits: 171 | Re: Happy endings or sad endings? Thanks for this cool thread. I would like to begin by saying that I for one enjoy both types of endings. I like the extremely fake happy type endings just as much as the main character dieing type endings. It brings a good balance to anime. It brings a good balance to me. ![]()

I like open endings where they make you think. So when im at work or school I can reflect and wonder what could or would of happend. I donno it could be Just me :-D |

Newbie | Re: Happy endings or sad endings? I'd have to say happy endings are good but so are sad ones. I guess as long as they have closure I'm satisfied. FMA left something to be desired. I loved the ending but then again it just left me with this odd emptiness. Chrono Crusade is an other one. Yes most of the characters died at the end and the fact that Aion still survived ticked me off I forced myself to think. I thought what if it had had a good happy ending. Would I still be thinking about it now? Yes I probably would've liked it better had Chrono and Rosette and Setella and her sister had a happily ever after but I don't think I would still be replaying that last episode over and over again. I think the same goes with FMA and I also think that although Fruits Basket didn't exactly finish the story it left off at the best possible place. I mean could you really imagion what would've happened had Tohru picked Kyo over Yuki or vice versa? Who ever she didn't pick would be heart broken and it would've ruined any hopes of keeping the feel (emotional environment) that the anime had had up to that point. I guess to answer the posed question I like both as long as it kinda of gives you a sense of security. That's not to say that I don't cry when the endings are really sad or really happy for that matter.

I really like both kinds of endings...as Cowboy Bebop of course would have been majorly different had Spike not died....or that Kenshin finds peace. However the endings just make you think the what if....I mean if we're talking about it. When there is an ending you hate or love...you will always talk about it. An ending that I didn't care for was Neon Genesis Evangelion...hopefully others agree that the ending of the series and movie...left a lot to question.
