Don't know if this has been brought up before, but how about a weekly or monthly anime trivia quiz? It doesn't have to be about a specific anime, just general questions on different series, Japanese culture referenced in an anime/manga, or anything even remotely related to anime.

Also, I think it would be great if we could have weekly meetings, a time when we could all get online and think up more ideas. I realize this is a bit hard with everyone being in different places and having different schedules (I myself don't have internet access at work, so I can only get on in the evenings), but we could do it over a couple of days so everyone has a chance to give their input. Just a thought.

It just seems to me that since this is our part of AO, we should make good use of it. If we don't have some kind of active structure, all of our threads could dissolve into a couple of people discussing things that aren't of real interest to anyone else.

I just had another idea, although I'm not even sure if it would work. How about an anime scavenger hunt? Someone makes a list of anime-related items, and we all search for and take pictures of the ones we find. We submit the pictures for points and the person with the most points wins. The thing I'm not sure about is how we'd submit our pictures (upload them or email them to the listmaker), or if this would violate any AO rules.

Well, I have an idea for Chief. You should nominate "Clan captains". Since you are the leader Blackhammer only you would be able to choose them (at your leisure) The captains role could help you "lighten the load" of certain tasks that you would normally have to do. For example you could assign a captain to update the member listings; as well as go out and "recruit" new members (which you would screen of course). These are only a few examples, but the overall purpose of the "captains" would be to make your job as our leader much easier. I'm sure there are a lot of details that you would need to consider (which is good because this isn't something that should be rushed). This would be a great way to keep things organized and updated all the time, especially once the clan reaches massive numbers.

The clan can't reach massive members...it'd just turn into a plain anime section. Why have captains when most people don't care about commiting to something on the net?

That just let's you know how many people have integrity. Why join a clan if you don't intend on being active in it? Everyone on A.O. loves anime, but few of them join the Anime Fanatics Clan. Besides, even if we don't reach massive numbers (even though it is possible) Having captains would lighten the load regardless of how many members we have. I do agree though, very few people are willing to be committed. It's not just over the net though it's as a whole; life, relationships, work, etc. People just don't want to accept any more responsibility than they have to. I'm not going to discuss *this* subject any further (this isn't the thread for this discussion). I feel that having captain's is an idea worth investigating, and I am somewhat intrigued as to what Chief Blackhammer has to say about it.

I don't see that we have enough active members for there to be any "load" on me...I mean we have maybe 10 active members... I wish we did a large group active...I get a lot of people asking to join but most of them just joined the site and they don't even bother trying the clan challenge...so there isn't much that makes me think they would be active. I am just to a point I don't know what to do. What do you people want? A contest? A clan challenge? Rice balls?

Even if you started a contest or challenge, it's unlikely that more than 3 or 4 members would participate, if even (yes, I'm still a little ticked that no one bothered with Nov's AOTM). Besides playing Name that Anime and Who Am I, nobody seems interested in actually doing clan activities. Chief, perhaps you should start weeding out members who don't participate or at least make a couple of intelligent, anime-related posts in the clan area every few weeks. That way we could get down to a smaller group who do want to be active members.

And rice balls would be a great, thank you.

I agree, I am a little intrigued about the clan challenge though. There hasn't been a challenge since I've become a member and I'm always ready for a challenge!!! Weeding out some of the non-active members would be a good idea. It would also be good if you updated the member listings, this way we would know who is a member. We may even know some of them and give them a little "encouragement" to be more active (lol). I'll brainstorm for some ideas this week and post them.... Maybe if you offered points for the winner of the contest to get people stirred up? Anywho, I'll keep you posted.
