Grumble grumble grumble Hey, if you posted the previous challenge, your suppose to wait a few days to give the newbies a chance to guess before answering frr_vegeta... ![]() Now why is this series of Historical Importance??? Now a days, Anime series that are aimed towards the Anime Otaku Core Community are broadcast in the post-midnight hour time slots. The first Anime TV series that was specifically written for a first time showing in the post-midnight slot was the series 'Those Who Hunt Elves', proving the market viability of these time slots for anime series...

![]() ![]() Credits: 46,369 | Re: Name That Anime! Grumble grumble grumble Okay, let's try this again.... In the series 'Mahou Sensei Negima' (Negima!), at the start of the second episode, Negima is accused (among other things... ) of being a 'NewType'.... So, what is the series that first invented and used the term 'New Type', (and even though this series was canceled prematurely during it's first time showing due to poor ratings...), why is this series considered of Major Anime Historical Importance... (And extra bragging rights if you can describe the original meaning of the term 'NewType'...)

![]() ![]() Credits: 27,327 | Re: Name That Anime! The term came from the Mobile Suit Gudam it was used to describe people who have evolved beyond normal human beings and thus the original difference between GUNDAM pilots and non-GUNDAM pilots. The latest Gundam series even pits the "newtypes" vs the "non-newtypes" I believe. Now as for the "Major Anime Historical Importance" gundam launched the "mecha" genre...it also really laid the ground works for the growth of anime through the early 80's.

![]() ![]() Credits: 46,369 | Re: Name That Anime! Grumble Grumble Grumble Correct on all but the last claim... (The growth of anime in the early 80s can be blamed on another series of Great Anime Historical Importance...) The term 'NewType' can also be paraphrased as people "Representing the next stage of Human Evolution", (which explains why NewType Magazine of Japan choose that name...) Wikipedia has a nice write up on Mobile Suit Gundam... Mobile Suit Gundam - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

Maybe I was misleading your just plain wrong on it but I thought MSG lead or laid the ground work for series like Macross/Robotech which were huge in the 80's? no? Anyway, ummm.....this is going to be too easy but.... I star a number of femme fatale who in the search for the people behind this secret organization must rummage through memories of the past. I take place mainly in France and that is all I am give you people at this point!

![]() ![]() Credits: 46,369 | Re: Name That Anime! Grumble Grumble Grumble There was actually another series that laid the ground work to make 'Mobile Suit Gundam' as well as the other early 'Golden Age' TV series (e.g. Space Captain Pirate Harlock, Galaxy Express 999) possible <patiently twiddles thumbs waiting for pause period to end...>

I think the problem is that not many people are actually members of the AF clan. It discourages people from posting here when there aren't a lot of other members posting as well. The more people, the more fun we all have, right? CBH - I'm clueless lol. I give up.
