I'm pretty sure you're right. I'm not too into these types of anime - they've never really appealed to me lol.

    Grumble Grumble Grumble

'Star Blazers' is the name of the somewhat butchered English Dub. It's original Japanese name is 'Space Battleship Yamato' (and in the English Dub, they renamed the ship the 'Argo' so not to offend WWII Vets...)

Now why is this series of Great Anime Historical Significance??? While think about it, all the signficant anime series that came before this mid 1970s series (such as Astro Boy, Kimba the White Lion, Speed Racer) are all kid series. 'Space Battleship Yamato' was the first Anime series to show that there was actually a market for animation presenting a serious Sci-Fi Drama. (and it almost didn't do it) The series was actually canceled during it's first time broadcast due to poor ratings, but then the US Sci-Fi movie 'Star Wars' came to Japan, and like it did in the US, triggered a fan resurgence in Sci-Fi programs. In reruns, 'Yamato' built such a following through word of mouth reputation that the studio decided to risk a theatrical movie release, the release of which became the first Anime otaku event... (And before this, the anime fan community simply did not exist)

The popularity of 'Space Battleship Yamato' was enough to have a total of three TV series, and five theatrical movie releases. And the anime popularity it created was great enough that this series marks the start of the 'Golden Age' of Anime, and the creation of the Anime industry that we know and love today, (as before this series, the Anime industry did not exist...) And for it's creator (Leiji Matsumoto) 'Yamato' marks the start of his Sci-Fi universe, as many of the series, directly spun off from the later 'Yamato' TV series are considered 'Golden Age' legendary series in their own right (e.g. 'Galaxy Express 999', 'Arcadia of My Youth', 'Maetal Legend' and 'Space Pirate Captain Harlock') who's revival series are still being produced today...

    So your up Laharl ex

    Hmmm. o.o

In modern times, aliens have come to live with humans. A near broke cram school student finds herself living with with one such alien, who happens to already be an outcast. The two create odd situations and...chaos. Metaphors and an interesting intro song included. The animation seems...purposely bad.

    Grumble Grumble Grumble

Since the main character is refered to as 'herself' that rules out both 'DearS', 'UFO Princess Valkyrie' and 'Girls Bravo'... Which only leaves one qualifying series that I know of... so I'll just wait out my fair play period...
