Hiroyuki Kitakubo Blood: The Last Vampire

Plot

This anime revolves around a girl named Saya. Turns out that Saya is working for people to slay a group of vampire demons known as Teropterids. These demons pose as humans and only live to drink human blood. The only way to kill them is to cut them with one strike that will be enough for them to lose a large amount of blood. This is where Saya and her sword come in. She is sent to a U.S. army base in Japan to hunt some of these creatures. Meanwhile she has to pose as a regular school student. Let's just say, Saya is far from a regular human herself!

Audio and Visuals

The soundtrack is pretty good in the movie. Plenty of eerie and depressing background music that helps make the movie seem more scary. My favorite background audio is the one when Saya was dripping her blood into a dieing Teropterid - a classic!

The English voiceovers aren't that great, at least not to me. Sure, Saya has a good mature and serious voice, but I didn't like the rest of the cast for some reason. It just didn't work for me.

The visuals are quite dark in the movie. Most of the surroundings are at night and in dark places. They are well drawn and help give the eerie feeling of the movie. The characters were drawn pretty well. There is nothing to really praise or bash in this subject.

Final Thoughts

Well, the movie was good. It defiantly relayed the theme really well. The few battles were amazing; I just wished there were more of them.

The character development wasn't that great. The writer kind of just threw you into the story without much of a background to anything. As for the ending, it just felt blank. So the mission was over, but what happened from there is what confused me.

I will say despite the few flaws, I still liked it. It is a nice movie to waste an hour or so. If you like vampire and dark themed anime, then I recommend it.
