For Star Wars and video game fanatics, here is a game that should definitely be included in your great collection. Aside from generating critical thinking to come up with clever strategies, this fantastic family game capitalizes on pure excitement, humor, and fun.
The best is yet to come. The creator of the Stars Wars video game, Lucas Arts, may have this in mind when the prequel game was introduced. The first game is created to test the waters and with Star Wars and Lego supporters clamoring for more, the Lego Star Wars game sequel is simply inevitable. Thus, the Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy came into existence. The sequel is, of course, a better version of its predecessor, if not the best.
Lucas Arts made it a point to make Star Wars II an almost perfect video game for the whole family. Thus, the game features cooperative play to enable extra players to join and to "drop in" and "drop out" anytime in the game. Players can also control two or more (up to six) characters – you can be a Jedi, Rebel, Droid, etc. all at the same time.
The vehicle segments of Death Star, Millennium Falcon, speeder bike, etc. are also now free-roaming. The Endor, Asteriod Chase and Hoth battle sequences also feature variety of new gimmicks such as evasion tactics, torpedo shots, positional flips, among others.
Star Wars II offers more gameplay variety. It now has 18 chapters across 3 episodes:- Episode IV: A New Hope
- Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
- Episode VI: Return of the Jedi
and additional bonus stages that you can unlock as you leave the game and get back to anytime you want to continue.
Game Drawbacks
One drawback of the game, however, is that the game can be too easy that it can be played quickly. The stages can also be repetitive if you don’t take into consideration the humor and presentation it exudes. Another deterrent to the game is its low onscreen activity and resolution problems.
Overall
Despite the deterrents mentioned above, Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy offers a great game for the whole family. With the inclusion of better and more puzzles, faster paces and levels, billion secrets, nerve-racking humor, stage design, musical score, and visual presentation, Star Wars II video game is worth your try.
My Suggestion
Since this is a game based on the Star Wars movies, parents should let the children watch the movies before embarking on the video game to let the children get the feel of the Star Wars universe and the enjoy the humor and game better. Playing the game with the family can generate thrilling and lively conversations about the various scenes in the movies that are and depicted in the game. And with "lego-lized" or "lego-fied" Star Wars universe and characters, this is definitely an ideal game not only for children but also for the whole family who all have an "inner child" in them.
